The Cape, a Thompson Hotel in Los Cabos has appointed Diego Padula as general manager — only the second person to hold the title in the property's 11-year history.
Padula arrives from the Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa in Honduras, where he had served as general manager since April 2024. During his tenure, the resort drew international attention and accolades, and Padula earned special recognition from Honduras' minister of tourism for his role in raising Roatán's profile among international travelers.
"To me, The Cape has set the benchmark for lifestyle hospitality in Los Cabos, making this opportunity even more meaningful. The hotel's success, its strong culture, and its distinctive identity are a testament to the people behind it, and I'm honored to become a part of that legacy," Padula said. "I'm equally excited by the vision for the future. The Cape is a hotel that continues to evolve, innovate, and find new ways to elevate the guest experience. Being part of a project with that level of ambition and long-term vision is something that genuinely motivates me."
A native of Uruguay, Padula has spent two decades in luxury and lifestyle hospitality across multiple countries and brands, including W, Mondrian, and Le Méridien, with a focus on hotel openings, transformations, and high-performing operations. His résumé includes stints as opening general manager for Soho House Mexico City, opening general manager for Mondrian Mexico City Condesa, and opening director of operations for W Dubai Mina Seyahi. He credits his time on the opening team of W Muscat in Oman with teaching him resilience, adaptability, and the value of leading with curiosity and respect for local traditions.
Looking ahead to 2027, Padula plans to work with The Cape team to introduce new seasonal programming aimed at giving both visitors and locals a reason to return. He also cites a passion for developing the next generation of hospitality talent and intends to build on the hotel's culture of empowerment and investment in shared success.
