Capella Hotels and Resorts will mark its debut in Europe with the opening of Capella Florence in 2027.
Occupying a privileged position in the historic and cultural heart of Florence, moments from the Piazza della Libertà and the Duomo, the luxury hotel is a "reinvention" of a historical complex of former convents. Dating back to the 12th century, the site has been home to the convents of Sant’Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi; hosted talented artists like Arcangela Paladini; and served as a military hospital. The historical Via San Gallo complex will be refreshed by Italian architectural firms RPA and De Vita & Schulze. The interiors of the restored heritage building will be conceptualized by French design house Liaigre.
The 89-key property will house two restaurants showcasing local Tuscan cuisine and Japanese sushi omakase respectively. Additional F&B outlets include a rooftop bar, subterranean speakeasy wine vault and Capella’s signature Living Room. A separate Clubhouse will be home to a nearly 6,460-square-foot Capella Spa with hydro pool, fitness center and café, while an indoor amphitheater will pay homage to the site’s 800-year tradition of creativity and cultural exchange.
In addition to 33 suites and 56 guestrooms, Capella Florence will also offer 10 exclusive residences with a dedicated entrance.
Building on the success of its properties across Asia and the Pacific, Capella Florence’s opening in 2027 will mark the brand’s European debut, representing Capella’s commitment to thoughtful expansion in culturally rich destinations.
