Capella Ubud, an ultra-luxury tented camp conceived by famous designer Bill Bensley, made a splash when it launched last year. Surrounded by the rainforest, rice paddies and the sacred Wos River, the 22 suites were designed with teak floors, saltwater plunge pools, terraces and traditional, hand-carved Balinese doors. Now the Bali resort is taking it up a notch with a new two-bedroom tent called “The Lodge.” Recently unveiled, it’s been designed for a small family or affluent traveler looking for an extra lavish private retreat.
Here’s what to expect at The Lodge, which encompasses 2,000 square feet. Bill Bensley took an exotic, whimsical approach to its decoration, inspired by the history of the resort owners who are Chinese descent. Overlooking the lush Keliki valley, The Lodge has an open-plan living room with a fully stocked bar, a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, a twin bedroom with two double beds, and two bathrooms—one with a Japanese soaking tub, and the other with a hammered copper tub.
The highlight is the outdoor deck, outfitted with two daybeds for enjoying the rainforest views and listening to nature’s soundtrack. There’s also a 60-foot private pool. A host of amenities are included, like daily breakfast, a smart phone with an international data plan and free local calls, and a 24-hour Capella Personal Assistant.
To celebrate the opening of The Lodge, Capella Ubud is currently offering guests 20 percent off their stay until June 30, 2019 (valid for new bookings only).
