Florence is gearing up to host the start of the Tour de France on June 29. For the first time ever, the cycling race will start in the city, just a short drive from Casetta Firenze, a five-bedroom luxury farmhouse. To celebrate, Casetta Firenze is launching its “Tour de France Meets Italy” experience for guests to book this summer and to partake in the revelry of this historic event.
The highlight of the experience will take a small group from Casetta in a private car to the start of the race. As the cyclists make their way from Piazzale Michelangelo to Rimini, guests can cheer them on from a good viewing spot. E-bikes will be waiting for the group for a guided ride through Florence to Casetta after the Tour de France begins. The ride is for all levels and will take place after a light lunch and time for scenic stops along the way home.
Additionally, during the course of their time at Casetta, guests can view the race route high above in a hot air balloon, complete with views of the medieval city. The iconic red-tiled roofs of Florence, the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River will provide a contrast to the Tuscan countryside with greenery and hills.
For guests who would like to learn more about Italy’s cycling pedigree, a visit to The Gino Bartali Museum, located in Ponte a Ema, can be arranged. The museum is dedicated to the renowned cycling champion where bicycles, jerseys, memorabilia, vintage newspapers, publications and films are displayed.
Casetta Firenze owner, Xenia Lemos, said “We love to host cyclist groups as there is so much terrain to explore in our surrounding beautiful setting. Tuscany is an ideal biking destination as we can help map out many trails through our nearby small towns and guests can come back to Casetta for a refreshing dip in our saltwater pool and a delicious dinner before another leg the next day.”
