Driving the iconic Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo already makes for the perfect spot to take a break. From its assortment of independently owned shops to the numerous vineyards just miles away, this central Californian city has plenty to offer. The opening of Hotel Cerro this September will provide one more reason for travelers to stop by.
Hotel Cerro will operate a host of culinary offerings, including a pie shop, a distillery, a rooftop snack and cocktail bar and a small plates patio space. However, Brasserie SLO will be the centerpiece of the hotel’s food and beverage program. Under the leadership of James Anderson, the restaurant will serve roasted vegetables, locally sourced meats and fresh fish, all cooked over a wood-burning Argentine grill.
Aside from frequently using local ingredients, the hotel also plans to operate its own Edible Gardens. Raised planters will occupy the hotel’s entire second floor outdoor area, filled with native fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices (many featured in the Brasserie SLO and Spa Cerro menus).
In their free time, guests will have a range of activities to choose from. Hotel Cerro sits just 10 minutes from San Luis Obispo’s wine country and only 30 from Paso Robles’. For a longer trip, visitors can tour Hearst Castle 45 minutes to the north and explore the surrounding San Simeon. Or, guests can simply stay right by the hotel and spend their day at Spa Cerro for a couple’s treatment.
Among its 65 rooms and suites, Hotel Cerro will offer several different higher-end room options. The property’s seven Garden Suites, each around 750 square feet, will look out over the hotel’s Edible Gardens. Styled after a Brooklyn-style loft, the five Loft Suites will provide views of the mountains. The largest suite at 900 square feet, the Penthouse Loft will include a bedroom, living area and a windowed dining area for six.
Additionally, Hotel Cerro will operate eight extended stay residences. All with fully stocked kitchens, these accommodations will include one or two bedrooms, separate seating areas, fireplaces and balconies. Some will even offer private rooftop terraces with views of the surrounding mountains.
