COMO Laucala Island, a new private island resort in the South Pacific, is slated to open December 15, 2021. At the heart of the island are tropical rainforests, volcanic mountains, blue lagoons, mangroves and coconut groves. Guests reach the destination via a 45-minute private air charter from Nadi International Airport to the island’s private airstrip.
Each of the 25 residences, spread out on private beaches, above lagoons, and atop hills and mountains, will come with its own COMO butler. Ranging in size between 32,000 square feet to 43,000 square feet, all residences come with a private pool. Good to know: The construction has been carefully considered, using local materials where possible; they are built with natural Fijian wood in a South Pacific style blended with COMO’s contemporary flair.
A first for COMO, the island has its own tropical 18-hole David McLay Kidd-designed golf course. There’s also a wide range of land and water activities, a fleet of jet skis, and sailing and game fishing boats, as well as jet boats and diving boats. The resort additionally offers horseback riding, mountain biking, nature hikes and tennis.
COMO Shambhala Retreat, the island’s wellness center, offers physical fitness classes, yoga, and a fitness center. Treatments make use of COMO Shambhala’s signature products, as well as the island’s herbs, spices, flowers and fruits. The signature Asian-inspired massages and body treatments use the island’s river stones, mineral crystals and rich volcanic soils.
To minimize its impact on the environment and in line with COMO’s farm-to-table philosophy, the island’s five dining options receive fresh produce from the resort’s 240-acre farm, cultivating a wide range of organic crops and livestock, including chickens, quail and wagyu cattle. Fresh seafood supplies are sourced exclusively from local fishermen, contributing to the island’s sustainability.
