Conrad New York Downtown has teamed up with Hall des Lumières, Manhattan’s new permanent cultural destination for digital art. With the new partnership, the lower Manhattan all-suite luxury hotel will provide guests and locals with the opportunity to enjoy the bold expression of Gustav Klimt, the digital art center’s inaugural exhibition with a themed suite and signature cocktail, both available until March 31, 2023. The property is located less than a 15-minute walk from Hall des Lumières.
In collaboration with Culturespaces and IMG, the companies that brought Hall des Lumières to New York City, the hotel has transformed its penthouse suite, the Conrad Suite, into a world of gold, providing a teaser experience modeled after Klimt’s work. Guests booking the Conrad Gold in Motion Suite can enjoy the 1,500-square-foot accommodation. Adorned with some of Gustav Klimt’s most iconic art, the suite features prints of “Adele Bloch-Bauer I,” “Water Serpents,” “Lady with Fan,” “Mother and Child,” and of course, “The Kiss.”
The suite has also been enhanced with Florabrook décor, including over 30 small arrangements and one oversized statement piece, which, in total, include more than 10,000 dried, gold florals and plants. Guests will also enjoy gold-accented furnishings, female-forward vases and busts, and books highlighting Klimt and his works throughout the suite. Upon arrival, guests will receive a Hall des Lumières and Gustav Klimt welcome amenity and two tickets to the exhibition.
Guests and locals at the hotel can take part in the multi-sensory celebration of Hall des Lumières by visiting ATRIO Wine Bar & Restaurant to enjoy The Gold Kiss, a Klimt-inspired specialty cocktail, comprising a well-balanced mix of bourbon and acidity from lemon and bitters with the sweetness of simple syrup. Guests who book the Conrad Gold in Motion Suite can also indulge in the cocktail with pre-prepared directions and ingredients, available in-suite. The Gold Kiss kicks off a Hall des Lumières signature cocktail series, in which custom Klimt-inspired cocktails can be found at a new location in New York City each month.
Hall des Lumières’ inaugural exhibit, “Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion,” is a thematic journey through the golden, sensuous, and revolutionary art of the Viennese painter, created exclusively for Hall des Lumières by an artistic team led by Culturespaces Digital’s Gianfranco Iannuzzi. Klimt’s “The Kiss,” “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I” and “Lady with Fan” are among the works that will be featured in the digital experience designed to bring guests through Klimt’s prolific career while complementing the marble walls, towering columns, stained glass skylights and coved ceilings of the permanent art center.
“As part of Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio of boldly designed hotels, a key pillar of our brand is offering impactful cultural experiences to our guests. Conrad New York Downtown houses 2,000-plus pieces of art and we are always looking for opportunities to elevate offerings for our curated world travelers,” said Chintan Dadhich, general manager, Conrad New York Downtown.
Hall des Lumières is located at 49 Chambers Street, inside the elaborate former teller hall and vault level of the historic landmarked Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank opposite Manhattan’s City Hall Park. The former bank has been redesigned and transformed into New York’s newest cultural destination.
