Big news for Corinthia Hotels: The Brand will open its firth North American property in 2023. Corinthia will be taking over The Surrey, just off of Central Park in New York City, and it will begin an extensive renovation; after, it will reopen in early 2023 at The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel—operated and managed by Corinthia Hotels.
The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel will mark the Corinthia group’s first property in the United States and a second collaboration with Reuben Brothers, a private investment firm who bought the hotel in 2020. Located at the corner of East 76th Street and Madison Avenue, The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel will offer both guestrooms and residences. The redesign of the 97 guestrooms—including 33 suites and five signature suites—and 12 luxury residences will be overseen by Martin Brudnizki.
“Having a presence in the United States has been a goal for Corinthia for many years, especially in New York—a city that we consider one of the most vibrant and exciting places in the world,” said Simon Naudi, CEO of Corinthia, in a press announcement. “We look forward to working closely with the Reuben Brothers to restore The Surrey to its former glory in time for its 100th anniversary.”
The team will partner with Casa Tua on the hotel’s food and beverage offering, bringing the Miami Beach hotspot and celebrity favorite to New York for the first time.
New dining destinations will include Casa Tua’s private members’ club, as curated by Miky Grendene, founder of Casa Tua—which, beyond Miami Beach, also has locations in Aspen and Paris—and Italian kitchen, Casa Tua Cucina. According to Casa Tua’s website, it pairs organic, ethically sourced ingredients with an extensive wine list. “Classic” menu items include Beef Tenderloin with Seared Foie Gras, Hazelnuts and Sautéed Leeks and Mediterranean Branzino with Tomatoes, Taggiasca Olives, Roasted Artichokes and Asparagus.
The Surrey was originally built in 1926.
