Courmayeur Mont Blanc, Italy has announced the return of the seventh Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience taking place from March 17-20, 2022. Created by Momentum Ski’s Amin Momen and Heston Blumenthal, this foodie event attracts “outstanding” chefs to the ski resort of Courmayeur. Next year, the event will play host to three Michelin star chefs, Tom Kerridge, Paul Ainsworth and renowned local chef Paolo Griffa in collaboration with Grand Hotel Royal & Golf.
Courmayeur is situated on the Italian side of Mont Blanc; the center of the village is car-free and offers shopping, restaurants and bars, a choice of accommodation and an après-ski scene. World-class dining options abound in Courmayeur, helping the resort to earn a reputation among foodies. Highlights include the local Val d’Aosta cuisine, delicious local Mont Blanc wines, an abundance of local produce and traditional, alpine dishes. Courmayeur is ideal for skiers and non-skiers alike with a wide range of activities on offer such as snowshoeing and fat biking—as well as plenty of experiences for families and foodies alike.
Momentum Ski has once again chosen Courmayeur to host the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience due to its foodie scene, welcoming hospitality and beautiful alpine scenery. Announcing a new dinner-only format for Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience 2022, this season’s new flexible setup will offer dinners available to book separately as well as a range of accommodation options, flights and transfers as available add-ons.
The dinners will take place around and, on the slopes, as well as at the five-star Grand Hotel Royal & Golf, situated in the heart of Courmayeur, a hotel with luxury suites, a spa and a Michelin-Star restaurant, Petit Royal, run by Head Chef Paolo Griffa. Griffa will be joined by Tom Kerridge, who holds three Michelin stars, along with friend Paul Ainsworth, who holds two Michelin stars, to create more Michelin-starred mountain feasts. Past chefs at the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience have included Marcus Wareing, Clare Smyth, Jason Atherton and Sat Bains—all hosted by Courmayeur.
The first dinner of the event on March 17 will be an informal local experience, where the chefs can meet their guests, relax and spend time together. On March 18, Kerridge and Ainsworth will prepare signature dishes at La Chaumière (accessible only by cable car and snowmobile). The five-course tasting dinner will includes wines and cable car transport. The gourmet tasting evening on March 19 will take place at the Grand Hotel Royal & Golf, home to local Michelin-starred chef Griffa. It will showcase the more elaborate U.K. signature dishes of Kerridge and Ainsworth. The three chefs will collaborate to create a seven-course tasting dinner with wine pairings.
On March 20, the gourmet atmosphere in Courmayeur continues through the streets downtown, in the restaurants of the city center, where local chefs enhance traditional dishes whilst embracing new ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. Guests can also enjoy signature and classic cocktails in Via Roma. Courmayeur Mont Blanc will continue to host events and initiatives dedicated to taste throughout March.
