Dandelyan, recently awarded World’s Best Cocktail Bar at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards, is to launch a Botanical Suite within the Mondrian London at Sea Containers, in partnership with Bombay Sapphire this June. Dandelyan, one of the Mondrian London’s bars, will transform the suite into a tasting room with a botanical terrace, inviting guests to explore a variety of cocktails in depth, looking at the chemistry, biology and history behind the drinks.
The suite, which has been redesigned in collaboration with Bombay Sapphire, will have live plant walls, large trees, a tasting table with live foliage built in and a private entrance to an outdoor patio. Outside, guests will find a botanical terrace with a sail and outdoor seating.
The Botanical Suite will have a weekly changing roster, featuring a different menu and concept created by four senior team members at Dandelyan. Kicking off the first in the series on June 4 is Will Meredith, Dandelyan’s senior bartender, who will be delving into the disco era and how it affected the world of mixology. Following, from June 11, Enrico Gonzato will host the suite. Gonzato has worked in some of the most luxurious bars in London; he will explore what luxury means within the plant kingdom. On June 18, senior bartender Jacks Banks will discuss “expertise” when it comes to processing ingredients and what actually makes a good ingredient. For the final week, head bartender Alex Lawrence will create a menu focusing on what “Heaps Mad S4!T” means to Dandelyan—an exploration into the technique and shifting perceptions.
Each menu will be available from Wednesday through Sunday, with two sessions taking place each evening at 5:30 p.m. and again at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at £55 ($75) per person.
Dandelyan bar is an award-wining bar from Ryan Chetiyawardana (Mr. Lyan). In March, it debuted a new menu, The Modern Life of Plants, which explores industrialization and large-scale food systems. Dandelyan has been the recipient of World's Best Cocktail Bar (2017), Best International Bar Team (2017), Best International Hotel Bar (2017), World's Best Cocktail Menu (2016) and New International Cocktail Bar (2015) at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards and the Best Bar Team in London (2017 and 2016) at the Time Out Bar Awards. It was also awarded No. 2 at World's 50 Best Bars (2017).
Mondrian London opened in 2014 after a redesign and encapsulates the essence of 1920s cruise ship glamour.
