Design Hotels has unveiled six new member properties around the world, adding to its portfolio of over 300 hotels. From a reanimated farmhouse in the Catskills to an innovative disruptor within Japan’s conservative hospitality scene, the new additions aim to enhance Design Hotels’ vision of creativity, diversity and innovation.
Here’s a look at the new properties:
Trunk House, Japan
Located down a backstreet in Tokyo’s central Kagurazaka neighborhood, Trunk House is a hyperlocal immersion set within a one-suite micro-hotel. Housed in a wooden building, the hotel was previously home to a traditional Ryotei restaurant and geisha practice room. Now, the one-suite residence hosts a miniature karaoke disco bar and open kitchen complete with a private chef.
Farmhouse Catskills, New York
The 78-room, fully updated Farmhouse Catskills aims to capture the spirit of the region in a luxury, old-world setting. The newly renovated property houses a restaurant with a farm-to-table menu and a speakeasy-inspired bar, acting as a social hub for guests and locals alike.
Silena the Soulful Hotel, Italy
Amid the mountains of South Tyrol, Silena the Soulful Hotel sits over 4,000 feet above sea level and offers guests views of the meadows, forests, moors and peaks. Combining local culture with a Feng Shui concept, the 34-room, eight-suite hotel aims to provide guests with an Asian aura and Alpine region authenticity.
Villa Arnica, Italy
South Tyrol’s private 10-room Villa Arnica is a modern vintage retreat surrounded by landscaped gardens, apple orchards, kiwi, grape vines and verdant parkland. Originally designed in 1925, the renovated villa seeks to pay tribute to an era of grandeur and ease, as well as artisanal craftsmanship.
Seezeitlodge Hotel and Spa, Germany
A bolthole on the shore of Lake Bostalsee in southwestern Germany, Seezeitlodge Hotel and Spa provides guests with an atmosphere inspired by the nature and culture of the region. The 88-room, 10-suite property is set beside the lake and includes an on-site signature spa.
Parīlio, Greece
Situated on the island of Paros, the 33-room Parīlio is inspired by traditional Cycladic architecture. Framed by the architectural style of the island, Parīlio is covered in colored concrete, terracotta floors and local marble. Throughout the property, guests can find a curated collection of African ceramics and contemporary Greek design from European designers.
