The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida, has announced that it is still open and operational, even after Hurricane Irma tore through the state earlier this week.
The resort said its staff and the city were able to restore limited service operations on Friday after clearing the property and surrounding roadways of scattered debris. The hotel plans to be fully operational on Saturday, and expects its 10 food and beverage outlets to be up and running by then.
“We are strong in Florida and the hotel is humbled by the selfless efforts of its team members, guests, first responders, local and state authorities and the entire community who have come together to help one another through this devastating storm,” the resort said, in a written release.
Further reports indicate that, as of Thursday, other businesses in the Hollywood area have reopened their doors. The Diplomat Beach Resort shared that Gulfstream and Aventura Mall are accessible to the public and select stores are already open for business.
Transportation facilities in the area have also begun to resume operations. Both the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports are open and will continue adding flights, cruise ships are arriving and departing ports in Florida, and local buses have been operating since Wednesday.
“On behalf of The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL., they'd like to thank everyone for their ongoing support in the wake of Hurricane Irma. They have received an outpouring of concern for their ambassadors and property, and they are truly grateful. Their hearts and thoughts continue to be with those impacted,” said the resort’s media team.
