The Dorchester will launch its Christmas festivities on November 18, embracing a “Gift of Giving” theme throughout the hotel. For the first time ever, The Dorchester will host a Christmas concert with composer, pianist and producer Chloe Flower, with proceeds of ticket sales donated to charity partner, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
The festive concert will take place in Artists’ Bar and The Promenade on November 22, where Flower will play festive songs on the Liberace piano. Tables will be ticketed for the night and will include a three-course menu designed by culinary director, Martyn Nail. Additionally, Flower has designed a festive welcome cocktail, Sugar Plum, named after the lead song from her new Christmas album: “Chloe Hearts Christmas” on Sony Music. Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice helps babies, children and young people with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, and their families, make the most of every day. In addition to the Christmas concert, The Dorchester will also encourage guests of the Festive Afternoon Tea to bring a new toy to donate, which will be delivered to Noah’s Ark just before Christmas. Those who bring a toy donation with them to their booking will receive a special certificate from Father Christmas, and The Dorchester’s elves will wrap the presents before they are delivered. Throughout the Christmas period there will also be a prize draw benefiting Noah’s Ark, with gifts from an afternoon tea to a three-night stay in a suite.
This year The Dorchester’s festive decorations, overseen by in-house designer florist Philip Hammond, will include a special grotto where children can pen a letter to Father Christmas and use The Dorchester’s postbox, which has a direct link to the North Pole.
In addition, this year’s gourmet hampers consist of a selection of culinary delights and drinks that can be personalized to create a bespoke gift or treat. This year will also see the introduction of six gift boxes, including The Dorchester Martinez bottled cocktail paired with two Vesper glasses or sold separately, champagne and chocolates or champagne flutes, The Dorchester Old Tom Gin & Tonic set and The Promenade tea and tea cup sets. On the dining side, here's what guests can expect:
- The Grill by Tom Booton: The festive traditions start with an a la carte Christmas Eve lunch menu and conclude with a New Year’s Day roast. Special festive menus by Chef Tom Booton will be available throughout the holiday period.
- Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester: Executive chef Jean-Philippe Blondet has designed multi-course festive menus for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
- Festive Group Celebrations: Offered on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, The Dorchester opens its Chef’s Table and Wine Vault for private dining experiences.
- New Year’s Eve at The Dorchester: The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. and guests can enjoy dinner in The Promenade restaurant, Vesper Bar or The Grill by Tom Booton alongside entertainment before the midnight countdown. A DJ will also play until 2 a.m.
- Afternoon Tea: Executive pastry chef Michael Kwan showcases a festive-inspired menu of sweets and savories, which guests can enjoy alongside live music. The Dorchester welcomes a choir who perform traditional carols as guests dine.
- Festive cocktail: This year, The Dorchester will offer a cherry and chocolate festive cocktail, The Three Wise Cherries. The cocktail is served straight up in a martini glass in Vesper Bar, with a champagne in Artists’ Bar and then with Zen pale ale in The Grill by Tom Booton.
