Just in time for its 21st birthday, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel is slated to get a major makeover. Situated on the beach about nine miles from Dubai’s city center, the hotel is a landmark designed in the shape of a breaking wave. It’s a 26-story curved design overlooking the Arabian Gulf. Kicking off in mid May, the extensive renovation project is expected to last until October 2018.
During that time, the hotel will close so as not to disturb guests. The work will touch on 425 guest rooms, the lobby and public areas, the retail shops, beach, outdoor facilities and restaurants. (Note that the resort is home to a whopping 21 restaurants and bars.) This is the final stage of a two-year renovation; already completed work includes the redesign of 172 rooms and three suites, the Kids Club and beachfront restaurants.
During the renovation, Wild Wadi Waterpark will operate normally, as will the resort’s Talise gym, The Kids Club for Talise members and La Veranda restaurant for lunch.
Jumeirah Beach Hotel will reopen in early October, with plenty of time to primp before the resort’s 21st anniversary celebrations in December.
Commenting on the renovation, general manager Sven Wiedenhaupt said: "We are very excited that Jumeirah Beach Hotel is to undergo such a significant transformation. The refurbishment project has taken careful planning and consideration, and although both our loyal guests who stay with us year after year and the Dubai community will miss visiting their favorite hotel and restaurants during its renovation, I can assure them that a brand new Jumeirah Beach Hotel experience is coming, that will be well worth the wait.”
