Auberge Resorts Collection has unveiled plans for a new coastal resort in South Carolina: The Dunlin, Auberge Resorts Collection, slated to open in 2024. The property is located along the Charleston coastline in the waterfront community of Kiawah River, which comprises 2,000 acres of land and 20 miles of riverfront, nature trails and marshlands. The groundbreaking for the family-friendly resort is planned for January 2022.
Currently planned with 72 cottage-style guestrooms and suites, and 19 villas, the grounds will include a main lodge with a wraparound porch, communal great rooms designed and a library lounge. Additional resort amenities will comprise a pool with cabanas, a full-service spa and a community farmstead for dining, as well as nature excursions, access to the community’s Spring House and a riverfront swim and fitness facility.
About the destination: The Dunlin’s surroundings at Kiawah River include a preserved estuary and is replete with sea island life such as roseate spoonbills, great blue herons, redfish and oyster beds. Experiences and activities include fly fishing, crabbing, boating excursions, paddle boarding on the river or hiking or biking on 20 miles of nature trails. Kiawah River also has multiple working farms and a community-supported agriculture program that delivers fresh local food to residents and resort restaurants. And for those looking for a bit of city life, Kiawah River is about 20 miles fromt he attractions and restaurants of downtown Charleston.
Good to know: The resort will offer two event spaces for gatherings, meetings,and celebrations, including a 10,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor event hall.
