Set on more than 123 acres of tropical dry forest, Kasiiya Papagayo, an eco-retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica, has debuted the first phase of its evolution with the opening of five tented suites. Each structure throughout the property is environmentally friendly, resting on timber platforms and constructed solely from natural materials, while the flora has been preserved to leave little trace of disturbance on the surrounding landscape.
Kasiiya’s accommodations include three tented suites overlooking the beach with two more perched on the hillside. The suites dot the jungle and include a king-size bed, lounge space, closet, bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a private terrace with lounge chairs. There are plans to add 15 more tented suites for a total of 20, to be finalized in 2020. Later this year, five of those will open.
The grounds include a beach cabana, sunset deck, library, spa cabin and three-level fitness platform where guests can participate in yoga, meditation and movement exercises inspired by Capoeira. Meals at Kasiiya are enjoyed together at the restaurant overlooking the beach or at the hilltop Chefs Table and feature flavors inspired by South American cuisine.
The Kasiiya experience is about personal wellbeing while reconnecting with nature. Additional activities on property include snorkeling, paddle boarding, tree climbing, canopy zip lining or relaxing on one of two private beaches, while off property excursions can be arranged for horseback riding, ATV tours, sailing, surfing, deep sea fishing, sunset catamaran sails and more.
Good to know: The property rustic with wildlife around, but is definitely kid-friendly with lots of activities to keep them busy. Just know, they may hear some animals at night nearby!
