The Madrid Edition is opening in a preview phase this month. The hotel is home to two restaurants, three bar concepts, nightlife and entertainment, an outdoor rooftop pool, a spa, and a series of meeting and event spaces. Located a few steps from Kilometre Zero, which marks the geographical center of the country, The Madrid Edition is a stone’s throw from the Royal Theatre, Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace. It is also bordered along its northern edge by Gran Vía, the "Broadway of Madrid."
The building sits on Plaza de la Descalzas, with views of a 16th-century royal monastery, and is embellished only by a decorative 18th-century baroque portal—designed by Spanish architect Pedro de Ribera—which was salvaged from an adjacent building.
The hotel offers 200 guestrooms and suites, including multiple connecting units—for groups of friends and families—and a selection of rooms with private terraces.
The hotel houses culinary concepts by chef partners Enrique Olvera and Diego Muñoz. There is also a specialty cocktail bar, Lobby Bar, besides a concept on the rooftop terrace. The Lobby Bar features a mix of bespoke furnishings—such as the U-shaped sofa with back-lit shelves—besides Jean-Michel Frank sofas and armchairs, recycled bronze stools from Maison Intègre, rope-covered chairs by Christian Astuguevieille, and a pool table that designer Emmanuel Levet Stenne sculpted from a single slab of white Bianco Neve matt marble. Also accessible from the lobby are the restaurant Jerónimo, and, in a discreet corner, the Punch Room, which offers cocktails and a menu of contemporary Asian bites.
Located just off the plaza and with its own entrance via the embellished baroque portal, Jerónimo offers global cuisine influenced by Mexico’s traditional culinary roots. The namesake of Spanish painter and engraver Jerónimo Antonio Gil, founder, and director of the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City echoes the strong cultural links between Spain and Mexico that this concept encapsulates. The restaurant’s terrace will debut later this year. Oroya is located on the fourth floor and serves a relaxed tapas menu with family-style sharing plates in a relaxed, greenhouse-like setting. Guests can also enjoy cocktails and wines from a menu curated by sommelier Julio Barluenga. The restaurant’s terrace features a fireplace and a vine-covered pergola, besides sunbeds, cabanas, and a rooftop pool.
On the lower ground floor, an entertainment venue is scheduled to open later this year. Also on this floor is a gym and wellness facility. There are five treatment rooms, one with a private steam suite, offering a range of treatments, including the signature mud bath that uses products from Spanish brand Natura Bissé.
Also on the fourth floor, with west-facing sunset views are two penthouses. Both are arranged as duplexes with views of architectural landmarks from the bedrooms on the upper floor, while the lower floor comprises the living area and a butler’s kitchen. The Madrid Penthouse comes with a terrace and a private infinity outdoor pool surrounded by greenery.
The hotel offers a range of flexible meeting and events spaces outfitted with the latest technology, including a two-story ballroom, three studios with dividing walls for bespoke setups, a conference room and a breakout area designed to feel like a living room.
