The Baha Mar resort in Nassau, Bahamas has just announced its new El Jefe beachside getaway inspired by regional cuisines.
This new “gastronomic escape” is home to flamingo-pink umbrellas, white lounge chairs and offers guests an array of food and beverages that include the “Blue Coconut” margarita with tequila, rum, fresh lime juice, coconut cream and fresh coconut shavings as well as guacamole, edamame hummus, breakfast burritos with chorizo, egg, cilantro, tater tots, jack cheese and salsa, and traditional Mexicano sopes, which are a popular street snack consisting of an open-faced tortilla with carne asada, pork carnitas, cabbage, cojita cheese, pickled onions, radish, salsa and charred limes.
In a written release, executive chef Brent Martin said that Baha Mar's beachside dining concept focuses on regional cuisine “to celebrate the gastronomic traditions of [its] Caribbean neighbors."
El Jefe serves customers from a pastel, retro-style aluminum airstream with lounge-style seating on the beach, the release said, and is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.
Café Madeleine is also new to Baha Mar, and takes guests outside Caribbean flavors and into those that are more European. The café is off the casino floor of the resort and offers fresh sandwiches and salads, with menu highlights including quiches, croque monsieur or madame, as well as French macarons and éclairs. Drinks served here include orange, pomegranate and lavender-lemon mimosas, sorbet mimosas, teas, coffee and juice. Breakfast and lunch are served with indoor and outdoor seating daily from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
