The Elewana Collection is announcing that actress Virginia McKenna will join guests at Elsa’s Kopje in Meru National Park to celebrate two decades since the property opened.
Events happening from July 3 - 6, 2019 include:
- Dinner under the stars
- A screening of Born Free
- A bush breakfast near the grave of Elsa the lioness
- A book signing and tea with Virginia McKenna
- A gala dinner with leading conservationists.
Elsa’s Kopje is named after Elsa—the subject of Born Free—and is located on the Mughwango Hill (Kopje) on top of the grounds of the original campsite where Joy and George Adamson raised Elsa. The film, Born Free, popularized the idea of animal conservation. McKenna continues to work on ongoing conservation projects in Meru National Park through the Born Free charity that she established.
The Elewana Collection says Elsa’s Kopje is the only permanent lodge in the area where guests can experience the 215,000-acre Meru National Park and rhino sanctuary—a place brimming with large elephant herds, lion and birdlife, and a large array of other species. The property includes six cottages, one family cottage, three honeymoon cottages and a private house with a bar and dining area, along with an infinity pool and massage cottage (both with views of the surrounding park).
Rates over the dates of Elsa’s 20th anniversary celebration include accommodations, all meals, drinks (including house wine, spirits and beer), daily game drives, and all activities with McKenna.
Luxury Travel Advisor recently visited Elsa’s Kopje as part of The SkySafari by Elewana, a seven-day itinerary guided by a nine-seat private jet. Elsa’s Kopje was part of a selection of Elewana’s 16 luxury lodges, camps and hotels.
