Fairmont Mayakoba is putting its money where its shoreline is. The Riviera Maya resort has launched the Fairmont Mayakoba Beach Promise, a program that pledges a free night on a return trip if sargassum ruins a guest’s time on the sand. The guarantee covers stays from September 14 through December 20, 2026.
Here is how it works: if seaweed buildup meaningfully cuts off beach use or access to the water during a stay, the resort will credit the guest a complimentary night on a future visit, in the same room category they originally booked. Fairmont Mayakoba is also adding a 24/7 live beach camera to its website, giving travelers and their advisors a real-time read on conditions before departure.
“The natural beauty of the Riviera Maya is at the heart of the Fairmont Mayakoba experience, inviting guests to slow down, reconnect with nature, and fully immerse themselves in the destination,” said Gonzalo Güelman Ros, general manager of Fairmont Mayakoba. “The Beach Promise underscores our commitment to thoughtful, transparent hospitality, providing travelers comfort and assurance when choosing our resort for their vacation.”
Sargassum has been a recurring headache along the Mexican Caribbean in recent seasons, and a guarantee of this kind gives advisors a concrete answer for clients nervous about booking the region during the fall shoulder period.
The fine print matters, though. The promise applies only to individual reservations and is subject to availability. Groups, buyouts, and select high-season and holiday dates are excluded, and the offer can’t be combined with other promotions. The trigger is significant sargassum accumulation that clearly affects the guest experience; a minor or isolated presence on the beach won’t qualify.
Beyond the beach, the resort sits within a landscape of tropical mangroves and lagoons that guests can explore during their stay.
