Cooling off by the lake in Zurich this summer? The Dolder Grand—the prestigious urban resort first founded in 1899—is opening its “back of house” so that guests can learn the secrets behind this top luxury hotel.
One such experience is the exclusive flower arranging workshop with the onsite florist. The Dolder Grand is known for the stunning flower arrangements made from fresh flowers delivered daily. One of the most famous is the “Easter Egg,” which incorporates 12,000 carnations in the springtime. There’s a four-person florist team working at the hotel, and guests who sign up for the workshop will glean professional tips and tricks of the trade. Groups of three to five learn to create artistic bouquets with seasonal flowers.
Also mark your calendars for Epicure 2017 (running from September 13 to 17), the popular culinary extravaganza hosted by the hotel’s star chef Heiko Nieder. Over a five-day period, guests are privy to culinary masterpieces prepared by Nieder working in tandem with international guest chefs, all of whom boast three Michelin stars. Luxury Travel Advisor attended last year’s edition and we were wowed by the meal prepared by Chicago-based Curtis Duffy. Note: Epicure has become so popular that it sold out last year within two hours after the reservations line opened, so book early.
