Fontainebleau Miami Beach will partner with Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management to offer students practical learning experiences. Through the school’s Program On Demand, students will visit the property from March 8 to 10 to learn about hotel management.
Launched last fall, the university’s Program On Demand offers off-campus courses focused on hands-on learning. When students visit next weekend, the hotel will provide them with the opportunity to learn from its department leaders about the different aspects of running a successful hotel, including room operations, food and beverage, finance and marketing. At the end of the program, participants will receive assessments, a final grade and a certificate of completion.
“I’m honored to have the chance to give back to my alma mater and to inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals,” said the hotel’s president and chief operating officer Philip Goldfarb. Goldfarb once was the Chair of the Dean’s Council at the school and is the recipient of its “Torchbearer Award.”
The beachfront Fontainebleau Miami Beach offers 1,504 guestrooms and suites. It is home to 12 restaurants and lounges, including two AAA Four Diamond signature restaurants, Scarpetta and Hakkasan. It also features a pool area with cabanas, a concert venue, a 40,000-square-foot spa and a nightclub.
