There's new lofty luxury in Boston.
Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston, has officially pulled back the curtain on its newly reimagined Presidential Suite, a 2,000-square-foot sanctuary designed to blur the lines between a high-end hotel stay and a private residential retreat.
Perched on the 21st floor, the suite’s transformation is the result of a collaboration with London-based design house Commune Well. The new interiors are a deliberate nod to Boston’s dual identity: its deep-seated historical roots and its contemporary, forward-thinking energy.
“At Four Seasons, we always start with the guest. Every decision we made was guided by a simple question: how will this feel for them when they arrive, spend time here, and truly make the space their own?” said Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston General Manager Ahmed Yacout. “The inspiration comes from residential living, creating a space that feels layered and deeply personal. The goal was to create something that feels not only luxurious, but a destination-worthy retreat that invites guests to experience Boston from an entirely new perspective while feeling the sense of the familiarity of a private residence.”
The suite’s architectural hallmark remains its curved, floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer 180-degree views of the Back Bay skyline and Fenway Park.
“The new design draws the eye outward, creating a sense of openness and light, with views of the Boston skyline taking center stage,” Yacout added. “From morning light in the living room overlooking Back Bay to quiet evenings spent in the same place, the suite is where each day begins and concludes beautifully.”
To ground the space, Commune Well utilized handcrafted materials, including Italian-sourced wood flooring chosen for its specific grain and tone. The layout is bifurcated into two distinct zones: one dedicated to grand entertaining and another reserved for quiet, personal restoration.
The redesign introduces several highly specialized features that cater to the modern luxury traveler:
The Dressing Room: Inspired by high-end retail boutiques, the walk-in closet features glass-covered compartments, open shelving, and dramatic spotlighting to display personal wardrobes.
The Molteni Kitchen: A full-service kitchen and bar anchored by Molteni craftsmanship. The space includes stone countertops, a professional range, and a high-end espresso machine—details Yacout personally selected at the brand’s London showroom.
Wellness Alcove: A dedicated space equipped with Tonal fitness technology that can serve as a private workout studio or be converted into a vanity area for stylists.
Flexible Footprint: For families or larger groups, the suite can be expanded into a three-bedroom residence.
A Nod to Heritage
Perhaps the most striking detail in the dining area is the Zuber & Cie hand-blocked mural. This rare wallcovering — the same style found in the White House’s Diplomatic Reception Room — depicts George Washington’s victorious entry into Boston, anchoring the suite’s modern aesthetic in local history.
Other thoughtful touches include artwork that rotates to conceal televisions and a "reading nook" designed as a library-style corner for quiet reflection. The suite also features a versatile reception area that can be customized to house a grand piano or serve as a space for private yoga sessions, ensuring the environment adapts to the guest’s specific rhythm.
