The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado in New Mexico has appointed Ismar “Izzy” Uzicanin as the resort's new Manager of Adventure Programming. He will be responsible for developing customized itineraries that offer each guest a unique and exhilarating experience during their stay at the 56-guestroom, nine-suite resort.
Before joining the Four Seasons, Uzicanin gained premiere adventure travel experience with the travel company Backroads in Europe, where he coordinated and attended active trips to 25 different countries that included cycling, hiking, and kayaking excursions.
He has also been to Ethiopia and India as a volunteer for Habit for Humanity, and he traveled the world for eight months with his wife Kelsey for their honeymoon.
With his considerable experience in travel, Uzicanin and his team will aim to give tenants a taste of New Mexico's rich culture, history, and beautiful landscapes that the area is known for.
“Having been blessed with the opportunity to travel extensively around the world, it is New Mexico’s natural raw beauty and diverse culture and history that have completely captured my sense of adventure and inspire me to convey the magic and awe of this place to my guests,” he said.
Located 10 minutes from downtown Santa Fe, the Rancho Encantado can give guests a variety of memorable adventures, including horseback riding, white water rafting, snowshoeing, and day trips to New Mexico Wine Country or small, historical towns like Taos, Chimayo, or Abiquiu.
In addition to custom itineraries, The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado offers their own excursions:
- Camino Encantado and Los Caminitos Canyon – A private, two-hour guided hike along the ridges and arroyos of the Rancho Encantado. Along the way you can enjoy the views of grand vistas and learn about the ranch’s history and its many celebrity guests.
- “Ancient to Present” Cultural Tour – A native American-themed tour of the Bandelier National Monument that gives insight into the history of the ancient cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Pueblo People. The tour follows ancient paths built along the Frijoles Creek.
- In the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe – Guests can get a glimpse of the Abiquiu (Valley of Shining Stone) as they hike, bike, or ride horseback on the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Guests will also see Plaza Blanca, Copper Canyon, and Cerro Pedernal, a favorite of Georgia O'Keeffe's.
- Exploration Biking – Adventurous Downhill rides through the Santa Fe National Forest. Guests will be provided with full suspension mountain bikes for the excursion into the wilderness of Northern New Mexico.
