Launching this winter, Gleneagles is introducing an all-new ‘Children’s Welcome Experience’. Upon arrival, children will now receive their very own Gleneagles Adventure Guide to explore the 850-acre estate. They will also receive surprise in-room gifts and a chance to collect Gleneagles activity merchandise. In addition, a seasonal Kids’ Adventure Program will take place throughout each of the school holidays to get children excited for "green time instead of screen time."
Designed by Gleneagles’ team of activity and adventure experts, the adventure begins upon arrival where young guests will be welcomed with their own "Adventure Guide," a passport of sorts, where unlocking clues will lead them to destinations across the estate to collect stamps and chronicle their discoveries throughout their stay. Each child will have the opportunity to earn a completion patch or pin badge upon check-out if all stamps have been collected.
For children aged three to seven, The 'Little Glen Adventurer’s Guide' and bug-hunting kit will encourage junior ecologists, while for those aged eight to 12, ‘The Den Adventurer’s Guide,’ along with a Gleneagles compass and sundial will teach the art of effective orienteering as they put their guides and gifts to use together to explore the wonders of the estate. Both "Adventure Guides" can be completed at leisure and in any order without restriction, giving parents and their little one’s total flexibility.
Throughout their stay children will have lots of opportunities to get hands-on experience and become budding adventurers—from practicing knot skills and learning den-building tips at dinner time, to testing the whole family’s knowledge of wildlife with a fun family quiz. Dedicated spaces like The Den provide older children with an activity space complete with giant puzzles, while Little Glen is a fully supervised creche where indoor treehouses and the Gleneagles Express railway carriage await. In each young adventurer’s room, embroidered bathrobes will prepare the little ones for a good night’s sleep.
In time for the February school holidays, the Kids’ Adventure Program will offer a range of country pursuits for children of all ages throughout the week—from ziplining at The Trail Yard to the Glen Stables Experience where they can meet the estate’s Shetland ponies, Poppy and Ella. Children booked onto the Adventure Program, will be gifted a special Gleneagles-branded Adventurer’s backpack containing a reusable water bottle and snack box that can be filled with wholesome snacks at the breakfast buffet, ready for fun-filled days ahead. For the Adventure Program children who go on to experience some of the estate’s other 50-plus country pursuits—ranging from gun dogs and ferrets to tree-climbing and archery—they can expect to receive a special badge or patch to mark their participation in each activity.
The hotel also offers a children's menu at The Birnam, a brasserie with options such as grilled minute steak and salmon fillet. Activity packs and puzzles are available throughout the hotel's restaurants, while Gleneagles’ fine-dining restaurant, The Strathearn, has a sweetie trolley.
