An accompaniment to Grand Universe Lucca hotel, the new Grand Universe La Residenza has opened as a collection of 10 suites and residences paying homage to the Mansi family.
With a history dating to 1572, the three-story Grand Universe La Residenza—then famous as Palazzo Mansi on Carrara Street—was one of many properties that belonged to the Mansi family, one of the most successful silk merchants of the 16th century. The family home was passed down for generations and now begins its new chapter as an expansion of the Grand Universe Lucca hotel.
Rooms, which debuted on June 1, include the Laurier, Lilas and Lavande junior suites; Melisse and Narcisse one-bedroom suites; Camelia two-bedroom suite; Jacinthe and Jasmin one-bedroom residences; and Thyme and Tulipe two-bedroom residences. The one- and two-bedroom residences include a fully equipped kitchen, and nearly all spaces have large living areas. Suites and residences range from 415 to 1,188 square feet and are adorned with silk curtains and silk upholstered chairs, besides other decorative details and antique artifacts.
Guests of La Residenza will have exclusive access to The Majordomo, the butler of La Residenza, alongside other amenities, including an in-room coffee machine, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, Bluetooth speaker, and bath products.
Good to know: Grand Universe La Residenza also offers two boardrooms that are ideal for intimate meetings and business gatherings.
Grand Universe La Residenza is jointly owned by Italy’s Marcucci Group and Shaner Italia, and operated by Shaner Ciocco. Both are divisions of Shaner Corporation, a developer, owner and operator in the hospitality industry that has 67 properties open in four countries. In addition to Grand Universe Lucca, the group also operates the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa in Barga, a town in the Serchio Valley just 25 miles from Lucca.
