New Zealand In Depth has announced the opening of a new luxury lodge in New Zealand: Olive House, converted from an old olive press building into a luxury accommodation with 360-degree views of the Kaikoura mountains and coast. The new accommodation, which is located about 260 feet from the main Hapuku Lodge, includes three king-sized bedroom suites that can stay three couples or a large family, with the option to separate the building into a two-bedroom property depending on the size of the group.
Each bedroom comes equipped with a custom-made king-sized bed, a couple’s spa bath and scenic views of Kaikoura. Guests can also enjoy a full kitchen, lounge with a Danish wood burning fireplace, twin balconies, and modern technology including a personalized sound system.
Every stay in Olive House includes a continental breakfast buffet with a three-course evening meal available which focuses on local foods and seasonal ingredients. The Executive Chef modifies the dinner and breakfast menus daily to bring fresh game, seafood, and other ingredients to the plate.
Kaikoura, known for its marine life and scenic landscapes, is an eco-marine tourism destination with a wide variety of activities available both on land and at sea, from whale watching and nature tours to bush hiking. A new highlight experience available from Olive House includes the Kaikoura Aftershock Adventure – a 40-minute helicopter flight that showcases the geological and environmental changes to Kaikoura coastal areas, mountain ranges, rivers and infrastructure following the huge earthquake in November 2016.
Travelers can experience the Olive House themselves on a five-night, six-day New Zealand In Depth itinerary available year-round from £2,900 (about $3,854) per person, not including flights. The itinerary includes two nights at Olive House on a full board basis; and three nights in a bed and breakfast, a Kaikoura Aftershock helicopter tour, and car hire. Based on four people sharing the Olive House.
