The Harriman, a Viceroy Resort to Debut in Idaho’s Sun Valley

Viceroy Hotels & Resorts has announced the upcoming debut of The Harriman, a Viceroy Resort in June 2026. The property is situated at the southeast corner of Main Street and River Street East, the gateway to downtown Ketchum, ID. Just minutes from Bald Mountain’s River Run base, the resort marks Sun Valley’s first luxury hotel and for-sale residence offering, bringing the brand’s signature hospitality to one of North America’s year-round mountain destinations.

The Harriman is named in tribute to W. Averill Harriman, chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad, who was instrumental in the creation of Sun Valley Resort in 1936. His goal was to find the ideal location in the American West to develop a European-style winter sports destination that could be easily serviced by the Union Pacific’s national rail network.

The property will offer 73 guestrooms and 12 single-level penthouse residences, all with views of Idaho’s Rocky Mountains. Guests and owners will enjoy an elevated level of personalized service and an extensive amenity suite, including a 5,070-square-foot full-service spa, a 1,130-square-foot fitness center, six treatment rooms, an indoor thermal pool, cold plunge, sauna and steam rooms. A state-of-the-art rooftop observatory and outdoor terrace bar will provide access to the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the first designated preserve of its kind in the U.S. and one of only 12 globally.

The hotel will also serve as a gathering space for both guests and locals. A mountain-modern F&B program will include a full-service restaurant, zinc-clad bar, café and ski concierge, seasonal terrace and bar, and 3,275 square feet of meeting and event space. The kitchen will highlight local produce.

The Harriman builds on Viceroy’s global growth in high-end outdoor destinations, following recent expansion in Portugal’s Algarve region. More details on the opening and launch events will be shared in the coming months.
