On our hotel radar: there’s a sexy new spot opening in Copenhagen called the Sanders. Created by Danish ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin, the luxury boutique hotel will debut on November 1 behind the Royal Danish Theatre. Of his ambition, Kølpin says: “Entering Sanders is like stepping into a theatre. Guests will always remain center stage, but the scenography and carefully curated interiors will be the elegant and exquisite backdrop for their experience.”
A big focus is the Danish design, a refined yet down-to-earth look, and the art collection chosen by Dais Contemporary in collaboration with the owner. The staff uniforms were fashioned with a touch of theatricality by OLDER Paris.
Each of the 54 guest rooms is uniquely decorated. The room categories span from the “Single Coupé” rooms—which, according to the press release, were “inspired from a bygone era of luxury train cabins”—to the spacious “Sanders Apartments” that come equipped with fireplaces and separate lounges.

There will be a few places to unwind with food and cocktails throughout the hotel. Sit by the fire in The Living Room, lined with bookshelves, or take a seat in the lushly planted Courtyard (for the colder months, there’s a wood burning fireplace plus blankets are provided). The Sanders Kitchen is the all-day dining spot, featuring fresh market produce on the menu. There’s also the Conservatory on the rooftop, for drinks and snacks with views over the city, plus the Tata bar, named for the rise of the velvet curtain at showtime at The Royal Theatre.
