Hotel Castello di Reschio has announced the appointment of Maria Ghebresellasie as general manager from February 14, 2022. She will report directly to Florian Schaible who, as Master of the Household, has been at the helm of the family-owned 36-key property since it opened in Umbria in May 2021.
Owner and architect Conte Benedikt Bolza restored the 1,000-year-old castle into a hotel. It is located on the 1,500-hectare Reschio Estate, where 28 dilapidated farmhouses have been transformed into houses. Some of these are available for rent, while all benefit from the hotel’s service. The land is farmed organically providing ingredients for the restaurant kitchens, besides feed for the stable of 40 Spanish horses. The Bolza family has preserved this corner of Umbria for nearly three decades.
Ghebresellasie started her hotel training with the Hilton Group in London before working in Malta, Jerusalem and Amsterdam. After three years in Amsterdam, she began to consider returning to a luxury, boutique property having enjoyed her time at the Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem.
“Luxury is about the small details that when brought together, makes the hedonistic experience,” said Ghebresellasie in a press statement. “It was a joy to arrive at Reschio and to meet with Conte Benedikt, Donna Nencia and Florian Schaible and to find an organization that is so united in understanding the vision for the whole of the Reschio Estate and its organic evolution.”
Ghebresellasie will take up her appointment at Hotel Castello di Reschio ahead of the Hotel’s seasonal opening on March 25, 2022.
