After weeks of heated competition and a staggering, record-breaking turnout of nearly 5 million votes cast, the readers of Luxury Travel Advisor have spoken. We are thrilled to announce that Hotel Rangá, an SLH Hotel, is the official winner of our 2026 Most Instagrammable Hotel in the World contest!
When we launched this year’s bracket, our goal was to celebrate the properties that stop the scroll, drop the jaw, and make the rest of us instantly reach for our passports. The 2026 field was our most visually extraordinary yet, starting with 64 hotels drawn from every corner of the globe. From Ottoman palaces on the Bosphorus to cave suites above a Cappadocian balloon-filled valley, each property earned its place by answering one uncompromising question: Does this hotel make you feel something the moment you see it?
In the end, it came down to a fierce championship battle between two spectacular, yet wildly contrasting, visual heavyweights.
Clinching the championship title is Hotel Rangá, a property that proves Mother Nature is the ultimate art director. Situated in the wide, volcanic river valley of South Iceland, Hotel Rangá has firmly positioned itself as the finest northern lights observatory hotel in a country that certainly isn't lacking in competition for that title. Between its 24-hour aurora alert system and a surrounding landscape dominated by black lava fields, wild rivers, the silhouette of the Hekla volcano, and the majestic Eyjafjallajokull glacier, the backdrop is definitively and powerfully Icelandic. With the Westman Islands, the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara, and the Seljalandsfoss waterfall all within reach, Hotel Rangá is, first and last, about the sky — and as our voters recognized, the sky here delivers.
A massive congratulations is also in order for our incredible runner-up, The Maybourne Beverly Hills. Bringing an Old World European refinement to one of the toniest intersections in town, The Maybourne fought a brilliant campaign on the strength of its spectacular rooftop scene. Framed by swaying palms, the Hollywood Hills, and the city sprawl below, its rooftop pool and bar have become one of the most coveted social media backdrops in California.
Thank you to all of the exceptional hotels that participated this year, and a huge thank you to our readers. Setting a record with nearly 5 million votes is a testament to the passion, wanderlust, and dedication of the Luxury Travel Advisor community.
Until next year, keep traveling, keep scrolling, and keep sharing the views that take your breath away.
