The Hotel Telluride will be bringing the heavens and the 2017 total solar eclipse event (taking place in August 21, 2017) a little closer this summer.
The “Summits & Stars” package includes a private stargazing adventure led by Tara Butson, a guide and instructor at Telluride-based San Juan Outdoor Adventures, a fully insured USDA Forest Service permitted outfitter, as well as a thermos filled with choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, private transfer to/from the hotel and Lizard Head Pass where guests will be guided on a short hike to the remote star gazing areas, and daily breakfast.
The guide, Butson, has a background in natural sciences and interpretation along with technical guiding, in addition to teaching survival skills, one of being celestial navigation. The 'Summits & Stars' package is available until September 13, and starts from $1,178 (based on double occupancy). Weather conditions and blackout dates apply.
The 59-room luxury boutique, which has the feel of a Rocky Mountain lodge combined with a European chalet-style hotel, is located in the heart of Telluride, in southwest Colorado.
