Heritage Hotels & Resorts has announced that beginning April 1, the formerly known Hyatt Regency Albuquerque will be rebranded as The Clyde Hotel. Jim Long, founder and CEO of Heritage Hotels & Resorts, said that the property enjoyed the Hyatt Regency brand affiliation since its opening in 1990. Long acquired the property in 2013.
Located at 330 Tijeras Ave NW, the 20-story Clyde Hotel pays homage to the legacy of Clyde Tingley, former chairman of the Albuquerque City Commission and 11th governor of the state of New Mexico. A refresh of the lobby and ground-floor public spaces is underway, with plans for guestroom renovations in the coming months. The project will take approximately two years to complete.
The atrium lobby will be updated to include vintage elements set in a modern art deco backdrop. Besides the 392 guestrooms and suites with views of the city and Sandia Mountains, the rebranded hotel offers a rooftop pool with hot tubs; a 24-hour fitness center; over 25,000 square feet of function space; a full-service business center; a contemporary wedding chapel; and complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel is adjacent to the 600,000-square-foot Albuquerque Convention Center.
Named after the year Clyde Tingley first entered into New Mexico politics, the lobby bar, 1922, offers classic craft cocktails and wines. Carrie’s, the ground-floor restaurant, is named after his wife, Carrie Wooster Tingley. The menu will include popular, classic dishes from past and present.
