There’s a new hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Ivey’s Hotel celebrated its grand opening earlier this month, expanding on luxury boutique accommodation options in the city.
The hotel is located in the historic Ivey’s building, which was formerly the Ivey’s Department Store. Designed by architect William H. Peeps, the building was completed in the early 1900s. To transform the site, the property underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation but ensured that the building’s character remained intact.
There are 42 rooms housed on the property, including nine suites. Guests have the option of the superior atrium rooms, city view rooms, balcony suites, and the executive suite.
The property also offers two dining options. Sophia’s Lounge is named after Queen Charlotte Sophia, the namesake of Charlotte, and quarters a luxe bar featuring craft cocktails and food by Top Chef Alum Jamie Lynch, while 5 Church Restaurant serves up modern American cuisine also created by Chef Lynch.
For a more low-key glass of wine or small bite for breakfast, guests can catch up with a newspaper or lose themselves in a good book at The Library Lounge. The guests-only space provides local and national newspapers along with a full continental breakfast complete with locally sourced bakery items and freshly brewed coffee. In addition, on select evenings, The Library Lounge will offer complimentary wine and cheese to end the day. The space was created with reclaimed wood and leather seating to create a cozy, luxury atmosphere.
There is also a 24-hour 1,500-square-foot fitness center, offering state of the art equipment. The center offers space dedicated floor exercises, yoga, stretching, and free weights.
