Crown & Champa Resorts has announced Jawakara Maldives, the latest opening in its portfolio. The brand’s collection also includes Kudadoo Maldives Private Island, Hurawalhi Maldives and Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa. Jawakara Maldives in Lhaviyani Atoll is accepting reservations ahead of its October 22 opening.
Jawakara comprises two islands, Mabin and Dheru, connected by an oversea walkway. It offers 290 villas, and is situated 40 minutes either by speedboat from Madivaru domestic airport in Lhaviyani Atoll or by seaplane from Malé International Airport.
Jawakara will be managed as one resort with a focus on family-friendly and multigenerational experiences.
Mabin is home to 202 villas, while Dheru comprises 88 villas, totaling 110 Beach Villas, 90 Beach Pool Villas and 70 Water Pool Villas. This includes 10 two-bedroom Villas on Mabin which can be converted into a twin or triple room for larger groups or families. Additionally, on Dheru, there are five three-bedroom beach pool villas which sleep up to eight guests. These villas offer flexible sleeping arrangements and are ideal for multigenerational holidays, large families, families who wish to bring a nanny or for two families holidaying together. Each villa features a king-size bed, private sun deck, 48-inch TV and indoor bathroom with rain shower.
Waves à la carte restaurant on Mabin Island offers Mediterranean cuisine, while Aila serves indoor and al fresco all-day buffets in an open-air dining room with live cooking stations. Mabin also features three bars.
Guests can enjoy buffet-style dining at The Retreat Restaurant on Dheru or opt for á la carte Asian-Pacific cuisine at Umi in the middle of the bridge connecting both islands. At Blue Zone bar, guests can enjoy beverages along with panoramic views. Furthermore, guests staying at either Mabin or Dheru are welcome at the à la carte restaurants on both islands.
There are two Sulha spas—one with eight double treatment rooms located in the tropical jungle of Mabin island, and the other with six treatment rooms and a yoga retreat situated above the Jawakara lagoon. Treatments include Ayurveda and wellness experiences that harness Asian massage techniques and organic products. Other facilities include two oceanfront infinity pools, a kids’ pool; fitness center; artificial turf courts for football (futsal); paddle, tennis and badminton courts; a volleyball court; and a nine-hole golf course.
Activities include surfing, diving, kayaking, snorkeling, golf, paddle and football tournaments on a full-sized pitch. Guests will also have the opportunity to complete certifications at the PADI five-star training center alongside jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, sofa-rides, windsurfing, kayaks and catamaran sailing.
The Jawa Kids Club offers a program that includes mini golf, football and paddle tennis opportunities, besides child-friendly spa treatments, and sushi-making and mocktail classes. Children can learn about Maldivian culture through music, dance, art, and even how to fish using traditional Maldivian methods. The resort also offers sustainability workshops and ocean exploration sessions with the in-house marine biology expert.
Mabin Island’s options range from an all-inclusive package to full board, half board or bed and breakfast only. Pre-opening rates start from $600 per room based on double occupancy on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Dheru offers a fully all-inclusive, intimate island escape. Pre-opening rates start from $992 per room based on double occupancy.
Rates for three-bedroom villas for the opening period start from $2,400 for five persons, with additional charges of $692 for each extra person per night with a maximum of eight persons on an all-inclusive basis.
