The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nashville opened Tuesday in downtown's SoBro district, just a block from Music City Center and the Nashville Symphony. The 21-story, 297-room hotel, according to the official announcement, blends “cultural and artistic diversity, history, design and Southern hospitality.” The Joseph brand was created by The Pizzuti Companies and is named after Joseph Pizzuti, the family's patriarch.
Guests have the option of connecting with iconic tastemakers through signature experiences, including a bespoke boot designing session with premier leathery Lucchese at its VIP design studio; a curated shopping excursion at the store of Southern designer Billy Reid, who designed The Joseph’s staff uniforms; and a behind-the-scenes culinary tour with The Joseph’s food and beverage partner, James Beard Award-winner and Michelin-starred chef Tony Mantuano.
“Live with art” will be a theme at the hotel, which will have contemporary design by Miami-based Arquitectonica and more than 1,000 pieces from The Pizzuti Collection. Such pieces include a Hank Willis Thomas sculpture titled “Harriet & Annie (Capri)” and immersive digital installations at the porte cochère; in a chandelier by Misha Kahn suspended above the hotel bar; in custom-sketched coffee cups bearing the face of Lou, the Pizzuti family’s French bulldog; in nearly 4,400 square feet of living green walls throughout; and more.
In the guestrooms, bathrooms have Italian marble and ila spa products, while the minibar includes local brands like Olive & Sinclair, Poppy & Peep, Colts Chocolates and Bearded Iris Brewing. Thirty-two suites offer espresso machines, living areas and Audio Technica turntables with a selection of albums in each. The 20th-floor, 2,168-square-foot Presidential Suite is complete with an entertaining space, a marble bar, a fully restored 1920s era Steinway baby grand piano and a five-fixture bathroom.
The Joseph’s culinary program, helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef Tony Mantuano and wine and hospitality expert Cathy Mantuano, a husband and wife duo who are known for their Italian restaurant in Chicago, Spiaggia. The Joseph's signature restaurant, Yolan, has a menu of house-made pastas and meat and seafood prepared with local produce. A glass-ensconced and temperature-controlled wine cellar is filled with more than 600 bottles from Italy and other parts of the world.
Weekly at The Joseph, guests can experience “King of Cheese,” the ceremonial cutting of an aged, 80-pound wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano, where they’ll share an aperitivo with the Mantuanos. Guests can also learn about Yolan’s cheese cave, a special area reserved for the proper storage. Meanwhile, The Joseph’s lobby lounge serves Illy espresso and fresh pastries. Daily, the hotel also hosts “The Art of Tea,” when guests can sip on a custom-curated tea concoction, such as Sparkling Tea, Zero Proof Tea or Tipsy Tea from the tea trolley.
Denim, the all-day, indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge, is centered around an outdoor pool and deck. The menu includes salads, wood-fired pizzas and roasted meats.
The rooftop is also home to Rose, which encompasses a 5,500-square-foot spa and salon. Every service at Rose’s six treatment rooms begins with a foot scrub and soak in an oversized copper tub with signature rose-infused botanicals. Rose’s services include a Biologique Recherche Remodeling Face Machine (and several treatments using Biologique Recherche products), steam rooms with ice fountains and multi-sensory experience showers. There is an adjoining 1,500-square-foot fitness center.
Additionally, The Joseph has more than 22,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space for meetings, events and entertaining.
Deal: In celebration of its opening, the property is offering a special package, The Joseph: Revealed.
