Jean-Michel Gathy has established a reputation as a hotel designer par excellence, with luxury hospitality projects spanning the globe, from the Chedi Andermatt in the Alps to the Four Seasons in Bangkok. So naturally when we heard he’s behind the design of the upcoming Jumeirah Bali, we took notice. Inspired by a Javanese Hindu water palace, the new luxury resort pays tribute to Bali’s rich cultural heritage.
Located at the southern tip of the Jimbaran district, the Jumeirah Bali, which opens in late 2020. There will be 119 luxury villas set in luxuriant gardens and equipped with private pools. (Services include canapé bites with turndown and a personal butler on request.)
The resort will offer an extensive menu of treatments at the Talise Spa, children’s activities at the Peafowl Pavilion kids club and a variety of oceanfront dining outlets. Participate sunset yoga (as Dreamland Beach is on the west side of the island), or sign up for Beach Boot Camp and take part in an intensive fitness program on Dreamland Beach. What’s more, guests will be encouraged to immerse themselves in local culture with traditional experiences like “Blessings of Bali,” a water purification ritual conducted by the resort’s priest, Mangku.
The Jumeirah Bali will soon be accepting reservations. The resort has rolled out an exclusive opening offer where guests can save up to 25 percent on their stay in the resort’s opening weeks. This also includes 10 percent savings at the restaurants and 15 percent at the Talise Spa.
