The poem may say that no man is an island, but you can certainly take off and vacation on one if you’d like.
JW Marriott recently announced the opening of JW Marriott Crete Resort and Spa, the brand’s first Mediterranean beach resort. Tucked in Marathi near the town of Chania, the inviting escape features 160 guest rooms, suites, and villas, each with sweeping views of the Aegean Sea. Spanning over 100 acres of coastline, the dreamlike resort plays on both Crete’s natural beauty and historic background.
The island escape will also emphasize wellness as a major feature with the opening of ANOSEAS Spa, which combines traditional Cretan healing rituals with modern immersive therapies (We’re dreaming of a Grecian White Lotus adventure sans, y’know…the darker plot points). You’ll find everything from hydrotherapy experiences and a yoga deck to four swimming pools with panoramic sea views.
The venue will also lean into the multigenerational luxury travel phenomenon with a variety of offerings for younger members of your travel squad. In addition to several kid-centered outdoor spaces like play zones and a vegetable garden, The Phestos Den is a children’s spot for cultural discovery, hands-on learning, and creative play. The team at the resort can also help coordinate group excursions to local landmarks, as well.
“The opening of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa marks a milestone moment for the brand with its entrance into Greece,” Bruce Rohr, JW Marriott’s vice president and global brand leader, said in a statement. “This extraordinary property captures the essence of the JW Marriott brand, pairing warm, intuitive service with serene, thoughtfully designed spaces that invite guests to be present and truly connect. Crete’s timeless beauty and heritage make it an inspiring setting for the brand’s first property in the country, and we look forward to welcoming guests to experience our signature approach to hospitality and well-being on this iconic island.”
