The Greek isle of Mykonos has long lured sun-seeking sybarites to the Cyclades, where a lively restaurant scene and glam beach nightlife coexist with the traditional, whitewashed villages of the hilly interior. The most popular in the island archipelago, Mykonos has an unmistakable charisma. It’s here in this jetset island paradise that a new luxury lifestyle hotel will make its debut on June 1, 2020. With just 25 suites and two villas, Kalesma—which translates to “invite” or “calling”—is a boutique hotel with a deep sense of place, seeking to share with guests a genuine insider knowledge of the island.
Kalesma is the pet project of a local trio who also founded the fashionable Athens hang-outs Sea Spice, Pere and Ubu. Located two miles from Mykonos town, the hilltop hotel is set on a lush, five-acre estate overlooking Ornos Bay. Each suite—which can accommodate up to three adults, or two adults and two children—comes with a large heated pool and private patio. Note that the two- and three-bedroom villas can be rented together for groups. These villas are equipped with kitchens, pre-stocked fridges and separate dining areas; they are serviced by butlers and a private chef on request.
A highlight will be the nightly sunset celebrations at Pere Ubu, the panoramic restaurant next to the infinity pool. When it comes to exploring the island, the in-the-know concierge will be able to help with beach recommendations, yacht charters and personal shoppers. A full spa will follow in 2021. (Currently guests can book in-room spa treatments.) Note that for its inaugural season, Kalesma will be open from June through October. In the future the hotel will welcome guests from April through October.
