Inspired by the live-action remake of the film Beauty and the Beast, Town House at The Kensington Hotel in London will be offering an aptly named Tale as Old as Time Afternoon Tea. The offering will be complete with Mrs. Potts and Chip Potts dishware as well as various sweets and savories based on the characters and scenes of the film.
Highlights of sweetsinclude Vanilla & Gold Jelly, presented in shot glasses with the symbolic rose petal immersed inside, served with cream poured from Mrs. Potts spout. Other treats include: a Spiced Snow Ball Macaroon; Coconut & Chocolate, referring to Belle and Beast’s playful snowball fight; a Chocolate Clock Tart made of Chocolate Ganache with an image of Cogsworth’s face; and Town House’s Try the Grey Stuff’ White Chocolate Mousse, which was inspired by the song “Be Our Guest.”
Town House will also offer a variety of savory delights to enjoy, including a Bite-Sized Venison Pie, Cheese Soufflé with Roscoff Onion Pissaladiere, and a Beef Ragu & Saffron Arancini served with Lemon Crème Fraiche.
As an alternative to scones, Town House will offer Marie’s Sweet Brioche Baguette with apricot preserve & chocolate pot, referring to the local baker from Belle’s hometown in the film. The Tale as Old as Time Afternoon Tea Menu will be available from February 13-26 and on Saturdays and Sundays only throughout the end of March, and also includes a glass of Champagne and a selection of rare teas.
Town House is located on the corner of Queen’s Gate and the Old Brompton Road, and is spread across three classically designed drawing rooms, serving locally-sourced, seasonal modern British cuisine.
