Larry and Brad Korman, co-CEOs of Korman Communities, announced their first pure hotel and their sixth New York City property under AKA, a collection of luxury hotel residences. AKA Smyth Tribeca, located at 85 West Broadway between Warren and Chambers Street, formerly known as the Smyth - a Thompson Hotel, was purchased in December of last year by Korman Communities in partnership with Shorewood Real Estate Group LLC and Prodigy Network.
With 100 guestrooms, the hotel will continue to offer travelers daily stays and longer stays, with many of the same operating team members from the former Smyth. Guests, however, will now have the opportunity to experience AKA’s is service and personalized attention.
Additionally, James Beard-award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini’s restaurant Little Park remains on the ground level. Little Park serves American dishes with a European flair for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Little Park team will continue to manage the lobby bar and provide in-room dining, private dining and catering for meetings in the 1,200-square-foot penthouses. Additionally, Little Park has a private event dining room available for large parties and corporate meetings, with custom chef-designed menus and personalized service.
Additional amenities and services already in place include a fitness workout center, complimentary Internet access in all guestrooms and throughout the property, 24-hour in-room dining, daily housekeeping, premium cable, HBO, Chromecast for streaming entertainment and complimentary local phone calls, as well as a 24-hour guest-services team. The suites with terraces are very popular.
While many of the hotel’s core attributes will be staying intact, AKA will be infusing the property with several brand elements. More announcements about the plans for the hotel are to come.
