Kulm Hotel St. Moritz has unveiled a major renovation to the Corvatsch Suite, formally known as the Presidential Suite. Local architect Rolf Som and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, who previously worked on Four Seasons George V in Paris, The Savoy in London, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, and Kulm Hotel’s sister property, Grand Hotel Kronenhof, led the project. The project resulted in the transformation of the St. Moritz hotel’s top-floor suite.
At nearly 2,000 square feet, the Corvatsch Suite offers a plush king-size bed, outdoor terraces with views of St. Moritz, a living room with an open fireplace, an adjoining dining area, and a shower, which travelers can use as a relaxing steam bath. Named for the nearby Corvatsch Mountain, the suite introduced contemporary features to the space, including 70s-inspired sustainable dining armchairs, Little Petra sheepskin armchairs and a sofa. The design team also made sure to showcase the suite’s large windows to bring the the Engadine mountains into the space, besides installing a new corner bench.
The design team has also displayed several art pieces around the suite, including photography by local artist Gian Giovanoli. Inspired by an Alpine Chic aesthetic, the suite also highlights locally sourced materials, such as Valser granite and quartzite elements in the bathroom as well as Swiss stone pine around the interiors.
Kulm Hotel St. Moritz opened its doors in 1856, and was the first hotel to be built in St. Moritz. A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel has 164 rooms and six restaurants, including formal dining in the Grand Restaurant, the K by Mauro Colagreco, the Peruvian-inspired Sunny Bar by Claudia Canessa, the Italian Pizzeria, and Chesa al Parc offering local Engadine specialties.
Additionally, the hotel houses a signature spa with a 65-foot indoor pool with underwater music, various saunas, a steam room, a jacuzzi, a fully equipped gym and treatment rooms, all framing views over Lake St. Moritz. There are six conference rooms, with capacities ranging from 50 to 500 people.
Both Kulm Hotel St. Moritz and its sister property Grand Hotel Kronenhof are owned by the Niarchos family. The Corvatsch Suite will be available to book beginning December 2, 2022.
