The French capital is a great dining town and food-loving travelers are spoiled for choice when it comes to restaurants. Indeed Paris is a place to celebrate a special occasion with an over-the-top meal that you won’t forget. The spring and summer season sees a host of new experiences and menus in the City of Light, as the warm weather and late sunsets means ample opportunities for dining en plein air. One to note is "L’Abeille in the Sky" at the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris.
On a few select dates in the summer and early autumn, the palace hotel will host an indulgent four-course lunch for just 20 diners on the terrace of the Shangri-La Suite, perched on the top floor. Measuring 1,076 square feet, the terrace is an ultra-exclusive spot facing the Seine and the Eiffel Tower (you could almost reach out and touch it).
Executive Chef Christophe Moret, who holds two Michelin stars at the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant, L’Abeille, will devise a different menu for each occasion, with wine pairings chosen by Head Sommelier Matthias Meynard. In May, the menu featured oysters, caviar, Cotentin spider crab, pigeon breast and morel mushrooms. To cap off the meal, diners tasted an elaborate dessert with Corsican honey by Pastry Chef Michaël Bartocetti.
This dining experience will be held on June 1, July 11, September 7 and October 5. It’s priced at 600 euros (about $732); pre-payment requested. To reserve, call +33 (0)1 53 67 19 90 or email abeille.slpr@shangri-la.com.
