Two Las Vegas Resorts Debut New Amenities

If you’ve got Las Vegas on the mind, we have just the thing for you. Two top resorts have debuted new amenities, from a revamped pool scene to new celebrity chef partnership, golf courses and more.

Nothing quite says “Las Vegas” to us like enjoying a cocktail poolside. The good news is The Venetian Resort recently unveiled its redesigned pool deck. Located within The Venetian hotel tower, the new pool deck takes design cues from the Italian Riviera, including sculptural art pieces and quaint gardens. The addition of 10 well-appointed premium poolside cabanas provide over-the-top amenities, some of which have their own private plunge pools (what!).

The Venetian now offers four large pools — three of them infinity-edge — in-pool ledge loungers and daybeds in the center of the pools. Of the 10 pool cabanas, six are Standard and four are the Plunge Pool variety; all of which, however, include a 75-inch HDTV, air conditioning, a private restroom, built-in charging stations, a bar and stocked refrigerator, a safe, Wi-Fi and personal cabana host. The Plunge Pools cabanas also offer retractable shade, a private shower, a second 75-inch HDTV by the plunge pool and additional seating.

The Venetian Plunge Pool Cabanas have a 75-inch HDTV, air conditioning and a private restroom among other amenities.

Cabanas can be booked any time, but it’s recommended to reserve in advance (especially over the weekends). Anna Hersel (anna.hersel@sands.com; 702-607-0607), director of concierge, can handle requests.

Hersel can also pre-book Venetian gondola rides, the on-property Art and Architecture Tour, various celebration packages (birthdays, bachelor / bachelorette parties) and “detox and relax” stays.

Rooms at The Venetian start at 650 square feet and include a separate living room and oversized bathroom with a Roman tub. The Luxury Suite (entry level) is the most popular, while the top accommodations are the Penthouse and Presidential Suites. The Chairman Suite at The Palazzo is another top offering. All three include access to the Prestige Lounge, limousine transports to and from the airport, VIP check-in and concierge services. Good to know: The Penthouse and Presidential Suites have two bedrooms and a classical design; the Chairman Suite has three rooms (and an option for a fourth) and a more contemporary design.

For families, we’re told the Rialto (The Venetian) and Siena (The Palazzo) Suites are the best picks as these rooms come with two queen beds.

Alexandra Rudow (alexandra.rudow@sands.com; 702-414-4033), senior manager of leisure sales, can handle bookings.

Dining-wise, Mott 32 and The Factory Kitchen are the new kids on the block at The Venetian. Mott 32, an upscale Chinese restaurant, gets its name from a famous convenience store at 32 Mott Street in New York City’s Chinatown. Meals here are served family-style; we recommend — of course — the Peking Duck. We also suggest requesting a table near the open kitchen or one of the curtained-off booths. The Factory Kitchen offers Italian cuisine for lunch, dinner and brunch. Good to know: Guests can also sign up for a pasta making class. Anna Hersel, director of concierge, can also assist with reservations.

At the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Palazzo, Trustworthy Brewing Co. & BBQ is now open. It’s touted as the only brewery on The Strip to focus on artisanal, small-batch craft beers. The West Coast-inspired beers brewed on site are complemented by executive chef Lloyd Bansil’s menu of smoked meats and barbecue dishes.

For guests looking to spend time at the Canyon Ranch spa, it’s best to book as far in advance as possible, especially for treatments on the weekends and during the holidays. Over 150 services are available; some of the top picks include the Canyon Ranch Custom Massage, the Deep Tissue Massage and the Canyon Stone Massage. Additional services include a crystal steam room, experiential rains, a Finnish sauna, herbal laconium, a hydrospa, an “igloo” and salt grotto; there’s also a 40-foot rock-climbing wall. Advisors should contact executive director Deirdre Strunk (dstrunk@canyonranch.com; 702-414-3606).

We’re told September, October and January are the most difficult months to book due to the number of conventions taking place in the city and on-property. It’s recommended to book at least three months in advance for these times.

Elsewhere on The Strip, the Wynn Las Vegas will reopen its Golf Club in October after nearly a two-year closure. Upon opening, it will have a new, 18-hole championship Tom Fazio course, which will have an entirely new topography from the first tee to the last hole. For guests who are staying at the hotel (with a confirmed reservation), they can book tee times up to 90 days in advance; non-guests can make reservations up to 30 days in advance. Fun Fact: The only course connected to a resort on the Las Vegas Strip, the Wynn Golf Club sits on the historic site of the Desert Inn Golf Club, a venue for celebrity and professional golf dating back to the 1950s. Travel advisors should reach out to chef concierge Rene Haberman (rene.haberman@wynnlasvegas.com; 702-770-2146).

Haberman can also arrange exotic spa treatments, dinner and show packages for performances at Encore Theater, in-room services and more. One of the most exclusive packages Wynn offers is the Diver’s Dream Package for scuba-certified guests, which includes a two-night stay at the resort, tickets to Le Reve – The Dream in prime Dream Seating (including plush, oversized seats with extended leg room), a private backstage show and the opportunity to dive the 1.1-million-gallon aquatic theater during a live performance.

Wynn Las Vegas also announced a new partnership with Thomas Keller. His new concept will take over the space previously occupied by The Country Club and is expected to open in the fall of 2020. It becomes the first Thomas Keller restaurant at Wynn; additional details on the  menu are not available yet.

As for current dining, guests can enjoy a lively brunch at Lakeside’s Sunday Jazz Brunch, which has live Dixieland-style jazz and blues music on the Lake of Dreams. For seafood lovers, Costa di Mare is a must for dinner, with authentic Italian coastal cuisine and shellfish flown in daily from Italy. Guests can make reservations up to six months in advance and it’s suggested to book them no later than three months in advance. Rene Haberman can also assist with dining reservations.

Looking for the top digs? The Wynn Fairway Villa is available as a one- or two-bedroom suite (2,411 square feet and 3,224 square feet, respectively) and has top-of-the-line amenities, such as a private entrance and VIP check-in, a secluded patio, two marble bathrooms with a rain shower and infinity-edged bathtub, butler service, limo service to and from the airport, and priority access to shows, dining, spa and salon reservations.

The 1,817-square-foot Wynn Tower Suite Salon is a great option for couples as it has a full, separate living room and dining alcove. Tip: They can also enjoy a spa treatment in the Tower Suite Salon’s private massage room. For families looking for something a little more spacious, the Encore Two Bedroom Apartment offers 3,475 square feet complete with a 46-inch HDTV, a marble wet bar with buffet seating and its own private massage room. Good to know: Rooms at Encore, on average, are a bit larger than those at Wynn. For butler service at Encore, book the Three Bedroom Duplex.

Arthur Wilson (arthur.wilson@wynnlasvegas.com; 702-770-4719), director of travel industry sales department, can help find the proper accommodation.

The Wynn’s spa is currently finalizing its renovation (and opening this month). The Spa at Wynn has 44 treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite for massage, body treatments, facials and hydrotherapy. The Encore Spa has 14 naturally lit garden suites and four oversized couples’ suites (among 37 total) for massage, body treatments and facials.

Spa director Erika Valles (erika.valles@wynnlasvegas.com; 702-770-4451) can handle reservations. We’re told the Good Luck Ritual massage therapy is among the most popular. It is based on the five Chinese elements and is designed to promote happiness, luck and prosperity; it combines a Custom Massage, invigorating peppermint foot treatment, ultra-moisturizing hand therapy and relaxing botanical scalp treatment.
