Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, Inc., marked a milestone last Thursday by reintroducing the brand to Italy with the debut of Le Méridien Visconti Rome.
Following a $20 million renovation and conversion, the hotel now boasts custom-designed guestrooms, suites and transformed public spaces. Located in the Prati district and situated between the Spanish Steps and the Vatican, this “iconic palace” is freshly renewed by mid-century, modern Italian design. Le Méridien Visconti Rome also showcases contemporary Italian artwork such as the mosaic by Ascanio Renda, the rubber-made pieces by Paolo Canevari as well as more traditional oil on canvas paintings.
The hotel has also partnered with La Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna in Rome, a museum founded in 1883 and dedicated to modern and contemporary art. This partnership works in conjunction with the brand’s signature "Unlock Art" program, which provides guests with complimentary access to the museum by presenting their room key card and guest pass, which can be found in their room.
The Hub at Le Méridien Visconti Rome, the brand’s signature lobby concept, includes the Longitude 12 Bar & Bistro – transforming itself from a coffee house by day to a cocktail bar by night. Guests can also enjoy the pleasures of the hotel’s rooftop terrace, taking in a panoramic view of "The Eternal City."
George Fleck, vice president of global brand marketing and management at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, said in a written release the hotel “sets the stage for guests to discover the destination.”
