Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, a five-star countryside Relais & Châteaux hotel located in the heart of Burgundy, France, has finished the initial phase of a major renovation project, overseen by architect Arnaud Behzadi. The multi-phase redesign of the historic property will be conducted through 2023, the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of legendary chef Bernard Loiseau.
The hotel recently unveiled full redesigns of three rooms, two of which have been completely refreshed as “cocoon” suites, incorporating the colors and traditional materials characteristic of the Burgundy region. Since the concept behind the redesign was to offer the feeling of “luxury in nature,” the “cocoon” suites feature enclosed beds that evoke the feeling of sleeping in a bird’s nest.
The second stage of the project will be completed in March 2023. It will include updates to the lobby, the historic two-Michelin-starred restaurant La Côte d’Or and the kitchen. The renovations are expected to be complete by the end of next year, with upgrades made to all of the rooms.
This marks the first renovation on such a large scale in 30 years by the Bernard Loiseau brand, which is now overseen by the new Loiseau generation. It is led by Dominique Loiseau at the helm, along with their children: Bérangère Loiseau, vice president; Bastien Loiseau, board member; and Blanche Loiseau, demi-chef de partie at La Côte d’Or.
