The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) has added six new member hotels to its portfolio of luxury independent hotels. This season’s collection includes three new hotel openings in Puglia, Bodrum and Mexico City. Additionally, the collection will welcome a family-led winery hotel in Portugal’s Alentejo, a renovated former school in Kyoto and a heritage hotel in New Delhi.
Americas
Hotel Alexander: Located in the Torre Virreyes skyscraper in Mexico City, Hotel Alexander offers 26 suites filled with Italian furnishings, a gym, a Caviar Bar and a range of concierge-booked experiences from private yoga to sound healing. At Carmela y Sal restaurant led by Chef Gabriela Ruiz Lugo, guests can savor Mexican cuisine. The menu is inspired by the flavors of the Tabasco region. The nearby, upscale residential neighborhoods of Palmas and Polanco are also ideal for exploring.
Europe
Quinta do Paral: Opened in 2023, this organic winery hotel is a passion project for the Morszeck family, founders of the Rimowa luggage brand, who wanted to sustain and support the wine traditions of the Alentejo. The property is surrounded by the plains and peaks of Vidigueira in Portugal. Quinta do Paral is a haven for wine lovers with 75 acres of gardens, vines and olive groves. The property has 22 rooms and suites spread between the renovated, historic main house and in the spacious, newly-built guest accommodations. Guests can enjoy horse-riding through century-old vines, cooking classes, private jet arrival and more in the Alentejo region.
Masseria Donna Menga: This restored 16th-century farmhouse is within reach of the sandy beaches of Puglia’s Ionian coastline. Located in Nardò Lecce, Italy, the 24-room property also has a restaurant that showcases produce mainly sourced from the organic kitchen gardens, olive groves and orchards surrounding the masseria. Creative cocktails are offered at the Lounge Bar. The pool is surrounded by gardens, and there are plenty of indoor-outdoor spaces to relish.
Maxx Royal Bodrum Resort: Located on a private peninsula in Türkiye and framed by pine forests and the Aegean Sea, the newly opened resort has 294 keys. It is also home to the first Turkish outpost of the Scorpios Beach Club. There are seven restaurants, all with a farm-to-table ethos and menus showcasing local and seasonal produce. Culinary highlights include an outpost of Caviar Kaspia as well as an Italian concept restaurant overseen by Chef Alfredo Russo. Other property highlights include a flagship 50,000-square-foot Maxx Well-Being Spa, a Maxxi Land Children’s Club and a range of cultural experiences.
Asia
The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu: This former 1930s school has been transformed into a luxury hotel that opened in 2020. Classrooms have become deluxe guest rooms, and the lounge and restaurant are housed in the original lecture hall. Drinking and dining options include Benoit Kyoto, a restaurant overseen by Ducasse Paris, and the K36 bar and restaurant on the rooftop. Located in the historic Higashiyama district, the property is within walking distance of UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Kiyomizu-dera temple and old Kyoto.
The Imperial: This private, eight-acre estate in New Delhi, India’s capital, this hotel was built in 1936. It houses a collection of over 5,000 pieces of 17th- and 18th-century Indo-European art. The hotel offers well-appointed rooms and suites, plus eight F&B options. The Imperial is within easy reach of Delhi’s landmarks and business districts, and offers experiences that range from “off the beaten track” to journeys in their “Imperial Fleet” of luxury vehicles.
