Borgo San Vincenzo in Tuscany has announced that Jonathan Vargas, the hotel’s head concierge and experiences director, has achieved an induction into the Les Clefs d’Or Toscana association. This recognition is a testament to his ability to deliver the highest quality of service, becoming one of only 80 concierges in the region and the only one in the Valdichiana / Val d’Orcia valleys to be recognized with this honor.
Established in 1952 as the first association of hotel concierges in Italy, Les Clefs d’Or Italia (or “Associazione Italiana Chiavi d’Oro”) is based on the pillars of service and friendship. Vargas has now been formally inducted by Le Chiavi d’Oro Toscana, the Tuscan branch of the global society that recognizes the world’s finest hotel concierges. Before earning the right to wear the association’s renowned symbol on their lapels—two crossed golden keys—candidates must have several years of experience as a luxury hotel concierge, pass comprehensive testing and prove "beyond a doubt" their ability to deliver the highest quality of service.
Vargas, originally from Quito, Ecuador, pursued his secondary education in Information Systems and Business Administration. At 19, he embarked on a trip to Italy, initially intended as an “exploratory vacation.” Following the trip, he relocated there permanently. Since then, Vargas has focused on "the art of Italian hospitality." While working in some of the most prestigious hotels in Valdichiana and Val d’Orcia, he began his concierge career in 2013.
“We are incredibly proud of Jonathan for this remarkable accomplishment. Our mission at Borgo San Vincenzo has always been centered around crafting experience-driven stays and Jonathan and his team are dedicated to making that mission a reality for guests looking to experience Tuscany,” said Shannon Kircher, founder of Borgo San Vincenzo. The fact that he’s one of the very few concierges with this distinction in the countryside is a testament to his dedication to not only creating these experiences but truly building relationships with guests and with partners in the area. Being granted Les Clefs d’Or status is an exceptional honor, and concierge service at this level requires passion and dedication that really goes to the heart of hospitality.”
Borgo San Vincenzo’s concierge services and experiences team are on hand to assist guests in curating personalized and private tastings, immersive cocktail classes or intimate dinners. Guests can choose from an array of experiences, such as local wine tastings, indulging in organic olive oil and pecorino cheese tastings at local farms, participating in cooking and cocktail-making classes, and embarking on tours of the region by foot, horse, e-bike, Vespa or hot air balloon.
