Launched in 2014 inside the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London has recently debuted a new sky-high experience called “Theatre in the Clouds.” This is an exclusive opportunity for both hotel guests and non-guests to watch an intimate theatrical play while ensconced in the swanky surroundings of the hotel’s signature suites. (As we’ve previously reported, this premium offering takes it up a notch with luxury amenities like butler service and chauffeured car service—not to mention the heart-stopping views framed by floor-to-ceiling windows.)
Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London has teamed up with private theatre service “Revels in Hand,” launched by Melanie Fullbrook, Freddie Hutchins and Lucy Eaton, three actors who met at Cambridge University. The idea is to “hark back to the aristocratic nature of the arts,” to quote the official press release, when aristocrats and royalty invited actors to their homes for a private performance. Following in this tradition, guests of “Theatre in the Clouds” will be seated less than a meter from the stage, and welcomed with glasses of champagne and a selection of canapés.
The performances will take place from October 9, 2018 to January 31, 2019 and include a theatrical double bill by Noël Coward and a comedy by John Van Druten called "Voice of the Turtle." Tickets to the show are GBP 85 (about $109) and can be booked online here, and there’s also possible to choose the overnight option, which also includes luxury accommodations for GBP 685 (about $874).
