Arthouse @ NYLO has introduced Secret Cinema series, which airs a new art film every month. For the event, award-winning bartender Cody Goldstein created a few original cocktails inspired by the artists.
The cocktails not only play with flavors that “represent” the famous art but they directly use the artworks themselves. The first film in the series was the Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick biopic Factory Girl. The film’s cocktails include: The Muse, which celebrates the groundbreaking pop-art movement and is served in a Campbell soup can as an ode to Warhol’s iconic art; and It Girl, a playful Coca Cola concoction; a cola daiquiri with Bacardi Ocho, cola cordial, lime and cherry bitters served in a classic glass Coke bottle.
Regarding The Silent Cinema series, it is a unique cinematic experience in a lounge-style setting where fresh popcorn and cocktails are delivered to guests’ seats as they watch the big screen, listening through wireless headphones. The art film in the series will change monthly bringing with it an additional duo of cocktails reminiscent of its theme.
